Special training

On our ski holidays Mr. A and me got some special Hold'em training. Our girls (to whom we had explained the basic rules recently) showed us how to win one pot after another. Whilst Mr. A or me were proud to have a high pair with a nice kicker, the girls decided the pot with double pairs, trips or even flush. Our luck was that we played only 0,20/0,40 the first night and 0,10/0,20 the second one. At least I could win my self-confidence back when I check-raised Mr. A's girl with a full-house in the very last game (she had two high pairs).

Poker Limit

Talking about other variants of poker I have to mention the "Poker Limit" which is very popular with most women of poker players. It does not describe another variant of poker - as I first thought - but just means that our Poker sessions should end by 1 o`clock am.
This proposal was made by Mr. A`s wife a few days before and was immediately supported by the girl-friend of Mr. Ducks22.
Isnt that funny?

Do you know "Baseball"?

- Sure I do, was my immediate answer.
- Really?, the Canadian asked astonished.
Some irritations later I eventually did understand that he hadn't talked about the ball game but about another Poker game. After he had explained the rules to me, he said that he could never play a whole night the same card game, particularly not Texas Hold'em which was in his opinion a TV creation.
Anyway, I do like Hold'em. But we should consider playing one or two other Poker games. This might increase the fun.

Ducks22

Hi Ducks,

First of all, we are still looking forward to your invitation for our next poker session with you. Second, could you please borrow me the film Rounders from Thomas. To my knowledge, actually it's with you...

Best wishes at all

Doc A.

This is what happened

First I have to say hello to a new member to our poker round. On Mr. G's recommendation Mr. M joint our last session. As he had already had some computer Hold'em experience he didn't do a bad job at all. Unsurprisingly, he lost his first bankroll quite quickly. His second one though was defended by him for the rest of the night. Rather the opposite way did our host Mr. G. After half an hour or so he reigned over I'd say 20 Euros net profit. Two hours later he had to swap his last red chip and minutes later he bought a new bankroll. It wasn't his fault - I would even say he had to play like he did;-) No seriously, he lost a terrible amount of chips to me when two queens and a king flopped. He held the third queen, I was in possession of another king. He bet a hell of chips but didn't expect another king on the river (me neither but I bet and called all his raises). Thus, the winners sat on the other side of the table. Mr. A took over the chip-leadership after Mr. G's decay. This night he wasn't able to keep it and for the first time for weeks I went home with a nice return on investment.
This report would be incomplete if I didn't mention that Mr. Ducks-22 didn't show up the whole evening. At about 11 pm he phoned us and claimed to have forgotten our date. We don't know what kind of commitment he had but he would have never forgotten a poker night. That's damn sure.
Take care
Mr. T.

Bavaria Hold'em Blog mentioned in HZ

As I have already notified our blog was mentioned in the Thursday's issue of the "Hersbrucker Zeitung" - a local newspaper. I try to translate the paragraph:

"The former local head of the Junge Union [youth organisation of the Bavarian Conservative Party CSU] created a second blog for his friends and poker pals: On http://bavaria-holdem.blogspot.com/ the cardplayers exchange poker dates and tipps in English. There is an active blogging but the gamblers stay among themselves."

Rounders

We are incredible up-to-date. I mean you know the George Strait CD story. Here is another one: As I learnt yesterday the film Rounders - which I gave to Ducks22 several months ago (!) - wasn't yet on DVD in Germany (it shall be published not before February). And as far as I know the film wasn't in the cinema either. What does that mean? We have got the best-poker-picture-for-years (!) exclusively in our poker community! Thanks to Krzysiu who sent it to me from Poland. As the film is a must for all of us, I suggest to watch it as an appetizer before one of the next sessions. Perhaps we could use Mr. A's place & equipment sometime?
